THCP has been making a lot of waves since it was discovered a few years back. While cannabinoids like THC and CBD have taken most of the attention, THCP is quickly rising through the ranks. THCP Is a Powerful Molecule

Tetrahydrocannabiphorol or simply THCP is a cannabinoid compound. It’s found in small traces, so it makes up less than 1% of the composition of the cannabis plant. At a molecular level, it’s very similar to THC, the main psychoactive component in cannabis. 

The difference between the two is that THC has a heptyl chain with 7 carbon atoms. This difference may seem small, but it’s what gives THCP a leg up in terms of intensity. Compared to THC, this cannabinoid is much more effective at binding with our CB1 receptors. This leads to a more powerful effect. 

THCP was first found back in 2019 by a group of Italian researchers who were looking into a cannabis strain. The discovery was made by chance and they quickly realized that they had something very interesting. While more research is necessary to understand this cannabinoid a lot better, it’s clear from the get-go that it has a lot to offer.

THCP Side Effects

Now, whenever you’re considering a new cannabinoid, it’s very important to look at both the effects and possible side effects. The THCP side effects are very similar to those of THC. Remember, both of these cannabinoids have a similar molecular structure, so they offer a similar experience.

  • Lethargy, 
  • Dry mouth, 
  • Dizziness,
  • Disorientation. 

  • In other words, it can make you feel “too high”, which is not what most people are looking for. 

    Specific Risks Associated with THCP

    When it comes to specific risks with THCP side effects, there’s not much research on the subject. However, we do know that cannabinoids interact with certain medications. Given that these cannabinoids are similar, you should err on the side of caution and assume that THCP interacts with the same medications as THC

    That includes sedatives, pain medication, anti-anxiety medication, antidepressants, and blood thinners, among others. To avoid risks when consuming THCP products, consider the medications you’re taking and talk to your healthcare professional. 

    Drug interactions are not the only thing to consider, though. You also need to consider your health condition overall. People with cardiovascular issues or psychiatric disorders should exercise caution when consuming THCP. Of course, consuming cannabinoids is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. That’s another risk to avoid.

    As explained above, people who are consuming certain medications or have medical conditions should avoid THCP. This is a rule of thumb we recommend everyone to follow while the research on THCP is still in its early stages. 

    Another important precaution is to keep your dose low. If you’ve determined you can consume THCP, start with the lowest recommended dosage and pay close attention to your body’s response. 

    Even if you’re already familiar with THC and its effects on your body, you don’t want to jump on the deep end with THCP. Plus, starting with a low dose and working from there will help you find the perfect dosage for your purposes. Whether that’s relaxation, a better night’s sleep, or just a good time.

    The first thing you need to do when you plan on consuming cannabinoids is consult with healthcare professionals or cannabinoid experts. They will provide personalized advice and tell you whether or not it’s a good idea to consume THCP in the first place based on your medical history.

    Once that’s out of the way, you need to find THCP products you can trust. Do your research to make sure the products are lab-tested, high-quality, and certified. Also, consider all the different consumption methods to determine which one is the right fit for you. 

    As general advice, we recommend you avoid smoking cannabinoids. Smoking can cause issues with your lungs and blood vessels, so it’s not worth the trouble when there are options like edibles and extracts. Overall, approach THCP with caution!
