Steve Sakala is the co-founder and CEO of Mana Artisan Botanics, as well as the owner of Honaunau Farm. Steve has been a leader in the medical cannabis and sustainability movements for more than two decades. Over the last seven years he’s focused on CBD-rich (cannabidiol) hemp strains that have diverse and potent health benefits. He has served as the president of the local chapter of Hawaii Farmers Union United, part of the oldest agriculture organization in the country. He has also spent time lobbying for sustainable agriculture in Washington, D.C., and in the Hawaii state legislature. In his efforts to support sustainable hemp legislation and cultivation in the State of Hawaii, Steve’s company Green Hawaii Genetics was awarded the first contract to grow hemp for the state. He graduated from Humboldt State University with a bachelor’s degree in natural resources and city planning with an emphasis in appropriate technology.
Steve’s mana’o is to support, design and help implement thriving social, environmental, cultural and economic models.
Having worked in the health, wellness and environmental fields for over 20 years, Melinda is both a student and teacher in the realm of conscious living. She has cultivated a depth of understanding of the inter-connection between the health of our bodies, the state of our environment and our mental, emotional and spiritual state of being. She is a lover of people and has a deep drive to synergize and bring out the highest potential in any person or creation. Over the last seven years, she has co-created Honaunau Wellness Retreat Farm with her partner, Steve, bringing her practical skills, along with her love of community, beautiful spaces and wholesome living to their endeavor. Melinda has a BSE in Environmental Engineering with a focus on sustainable systems and green building from Humboldt State University. She is also a certified qigong and yoga instructor.
With a dedication to walking a path of deep awareness, expanded perspective and personal integrity, Melinda’s mana’o is sharing what she has learned as she continues to evolve and grow her wisdom with each new life experience.
Pelin Thorogood is a tech executive and entrepreneur who has made a career out of being at the forefront of emerging business trends and technologies. Balancing the demands of her fast-paced world, she leads a holistic life on her family farm in Southern California and during her travels around the world. Curious and analytical by nature, Pelin holds a B.S. in Operations Research, Masters in Engineering and MBA degrees, all from Cornell University, where she also serves as Virtual Entrepreneur-in-Residence. The potential for CBD-rich therapeutics to deliver significant health benefits has lead Pelin to join forces with Steve, Melinda and Andy to co-found Mana Artisan Botanics.
Following her true north, Pelin’s mana’o is sharing the right way of doing business, especially during times of great change, and supporting Mana Artisan Botanics in its mission to emerge as a force for good.
Andy has a long history as a philanthropist, following in the footsteps of his father and mother, the late Ray and Tye Noorda, founders of the Ray and Tye Noorda Charitable Foundation (RTNF). Ray Noorda was the founder and CEO of Novell, one of the highest impact technology companies of the 20th century. Andy serves as a board member of RTNF, continuing his parents’philanthropic missions. Andy holds a B.A. from Brigham Young University (BYU). The life-changing experiences CBD-rich therapeutics delivered for his 12 year-old son with cerebral palsy led Andy to co-found Mana Artisan Botanics with Steve, Melinda and Pelin.
Based on his deep belief that each moment is precious, Andy’s mana’o is enabling people to experience as many beautiful moments as possible by making CBD-rich therapeutics more easily accessible to those in need.
Shimyrre holds a deep reverence for the interconnection of the body and spirit through the plant world, having spent 15 years exploring the dynamics between plants, people and food. With a degree as a Holistic Healthcare Practitioner and extended training in holistic nutrition and traditional plant medicine, Shimyrre specializes in herbal formulary for physicians and fellow herbalists. She is the garden tender of Honaunau Farm, as well as the medicine maker and production manager for Mana Artisan Botanics.

Mark is a martial arts sensei and a teacher of native Hawaiian healing arts of lomilomi and ho’oponopono. As a native born Kahuna, he has done spiritual healing work for thousands, blessed buildings, land, cleared the area of earth bound spirits, worked with shaman from Native American tribes and tribal lands from the east coast to the west, from Alaska to New Zealand. He has taught thousands of students in dojo’s, workshops, seminars, training camps and retreats all across America and in Hawaii the healing arts of lomilomi and Ho'oponopono. A true master teacher, he combines the strength of the warrior with the compassion and gentleness of the healer. His specialties are teaching people to connect with Nature, and healing the conflicts and stresses that are often carried by people. His style is gentle and effective.
