As a craft-inspired company, Mana creates quality products that highlight the flavors of aloha and support local farmers. We pride ourselves on selecting unique local ingredients, knowing where they come from, and keeping supply chain dollars in the local economy.
HIGHLIGHTING HAWAII & SUPPORTING LOCAL FARMERS
In our last blog, we shared an introduction to Craft Culture and how it supports people and local economies. Craft Culture generates unique, high-quality products that are designed with customers in mind, showcasing local assets that sustain the communities they are grown in.
Today, we highlight some of our partners and the ingredients we source from them that make up the Mana Artisan Botanics product line.
We collaborate to make some of the most delicious, nutritious, artisan-crafted chocolates with sustainably-minded Kailua based Manoa Chocolates. Small batch dark chocolates are infused with organic hemp and Hawaiian ingredients like macadamia nuts and locally harvested sea salt.
Much of our turmeric, plantain, comfrey and passionflower are sourced from Mana’s birthplace, Honaunau Farm. The farm is situated on the slopes of Mauna Loa and is blessed by ample rain, sun, and rich volcanic soils. As an educational wellness retreat and sustainability model, the farm hosts visitors from around the globe who want to experience and learn about permaculture and holistic living.
Our delicious honey is raw and certified organic, and comes from Big Island Bees, just a short hop down the hill from Honaunau Farm. We blend their rare Lehua Honey, which comes from the native, endemic Ohi’a tree, with their local organic Wilelaiki honey and our organic hemp extract to create one of our more unique and versatile products.
Another favored farm for our turmeric is located on the north Kohala coast, Aina Culture. Hand cultivated, organically grown, and supported by a small family doing what they love.
Kula Rum – Organic Rum
Our turmeric and passionflower are tinctured using Kula Rum, distilled from organic sugar cane on an 80-acre organic farm on the island of Maui. The Hawaii Sea Spirits Distillery and farm distill and bottle on site and host visitors from around the world.
Adaptations – Organic Cinnamon
Our Ocean Fire Cinnamon comes from Adaptations Farm just down the road from Honaunau Farm. It is a certified organic whole bark cinnamon made from hand-harvested bark of the cinnamon tree. Adaptations is a family-run island connector bringing locally grown fruits, vegetables and herbs to the business community for reselling.
As Mana continues to grow we remain committed to our core values. We strive to maintain our connection with craft culture and support local farmers & communities. In the years to come, we hope to uplift the aloha spirit and dedication to the aina (land) while highlighting the incredible abundance and beauty of the islands to an ever wider audience.
